Program In-Depth

About the Generative AI for Educators Workshop

This workshop is part of Creya Learning's Maker in Teacher Workshop Series, a professional-development initiative that enables educators to experience learning as makers, designers and problem-solvers. By combining practical technology skills with design thinking, experimentation and reflection, the series helps teachers build the confidence to facilitate hands-on, inquiry-led learning in their classrooms.

The Generative AI for Educators workshop brings this maker approach into teachers' everyday professional practice. Participants move beyond simply experimenting with AI tools and learn to create purposeful classroom resources, differentiated learning experiences, assessments and productivity supports. Through guided demonstrations and practical challenges, they learn to write effective prompts, critically evaluate AI-generated responses and adapt outputs for their students, subjects and learning objectives.

Throughout the workshop, AI is positioned as a teaching assistant, not a replacement for teachers' professional expertise. Participants examine the importance of accuracy, bias, and human judgement while using AI-generated content. By the end, each participant will have created a small collection of classroom-ready resources and a practical plan for using Generative AI responsibly in their own teaching.

Experiential Learning Guarantee

Every participant builds, tests, improves and leaves with a classroom-ready artefact or working prototype, backed by a structured reflection model.

Competencies & Outcomes

Core Learning Pillars

The fundamental pedagogical and technical skills educators develop during this session:

1

Understanding Generative AI

Understand what Generative AI is, how it produces content and what it can and cannot reliably do.

2

Prompting with Purpose

Write clear prompts using context, role, task, audience, constraints and output format to obtain useful responses.

3

AI for Teaching and Learning

Use AI to develop lesson ideas, explanations, examples, activities, worksheets and differentiated learning resources.

4

AI for Differentiation and Inclusive Learning

Adapt content, scaffolds and learning activities to support different readiness levels and learning needs.

5

AI for Assessment and Feedback

Generate questions, answer keys, rubrics, success criteria and feedback while maintaining teacher oversight and academic integrity.

6

AI for Teacher Productivity

Use AI to organise information, summarise content, draft communications and reduce time spent on repetitive tasks.

7

Critical Evaluation of AI Outputs

Check generated content for accuracy, relevance, alignment, age appropriateness, bias and unsupported claims before using it.

8

Responsible AI Use

Protect student information, acknowledge AI assistance where appropriate and apply professional judgment to every AI-supported output.

9

Teacher as Creator and Facilitator

Use AI as a creative partner to design richer learning resources while strengthening the ability to guide students in using AI thoughtfully and responsibly.

Structured Timeline

4.5-Hour Workshop Schedule

A carefully balanced cadence of inquiry, guided builds, team prototyping, and reflection:

25 mins

Welcome and Generative AI Foundations

Explore what Generative AI is and how it differs from search engines and conventional digital tools. Examine common educational applications, limitations and examples of effective and ineffective use.

35 mins

Prompting with Purpose

Learn a practical prompt structure using role, context, task, audience, constraints and output format. Improve vague prompts through guided prompt-refinement challenges and compare how different prompts influence the output.

55 mins

AI for Lesson Planning and Content Creation

Use AI tools to create lesson outlines, explanations, examples, classroom activities, worksheets and visual-content ideas. Review and adapt the outputs for specific grades, subjects, learning objectives and classroom contexts.

50 mins

AI for Differentiation and Inclusive Learning

Adapt the same concept for different readiness levels, simplify complex content, create scaffolds and extension activities, and develop alternative ways for students to access or demonstrate learning.

35 mins

AI for Assessment and Feedback

Develop objective and open-ended questions, answer keys, rubrics, success criteria and constructive feedback. Review the outputs for curricular alignment, cognitive demand, accuracy, fairness and academic integrity.

40 mins

Classroom Resource Pack and Teacher Action Plan

Select an upcoming class and create a practical set of AI-supported resources, including a lesson outline, differentiated activities or scaffolds, an assessment component and a rubric or success criteria. Identify how the resource will be reviewed, adapted and used responsibly.

30 mins

Showcase and Reflection

Participants present their classroom resource packs and action plans, exchange feedback with peers and reflect on how they will use Generative AI responsibly in their own teaching.

Educator Benefits

Why Attend This Workshop?

Actionable outcomes and mindset shifts teachers take directly into their classrooms:

Move from experimentation to purposeful use

Learn how to apply Generative AI to genuine teaching, assessment and productivity needs.

Create classroom-ready resources

Develop practical materials that can be reviewed, adapted and used in an upcoming class.

Write more effective prompts

Understand how context, audience, constraints and format improve the quality of AI-generated outputs.

Support diverse learners

Adapt explanations, activities and scaffolds for different readiness levels and learning needs.

Evaluate AI critically

Identify inaccurate, biased, unsuitable or unsupported content before it reaches students.

Use AI responsibly

Protect privacy, support academic integrity and communicate the limitations of AI-generated content.

Support responsible student use

Gain the confidence to guide students in using Generative AI as a tool for learning and creation rather than as a substitute for thinking.

Grow through the Maker in Teacher Series

Build practical AI capabilities and an innovation mindset that complement other workshops in the series and strengthen your ability to design meaningful, experiential learning.

Long-term Value

Expected Impact

After the workshop, teachers will be able to select appropriate AI tools, communicate their requirements through effective prompts, critically review generated outputs and convert them into reliable classroom resources. They will leave with a practical resource pack and a clear plan for using Generative AI in an upcoming lesson.

Participants experience how Generative AI can support the purposeful creation of learning resources, differentiated experiences, assessments and professional materials while keeping pedagogy, human judgment and student well-being at the centre. As part of the Maker in Teacher Workshop Series, the workshop strengthens their capacity to use emerging technologies thoughtfully and to help students become responsible, critical and creative users of AI.
